Jon Brion is an American rock and pop multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, composer and producer.
Biography
Jon Brion was innate within Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He come from either the musical personal: his mother was the jazz singer, his father the band director at Yale, & his brother & sister became the composer/arranger and fiddler, severally. Brion got difficulties within high school & at a age of Xvii left education permanently, opting instead to play music professionally.
Brion was the member of the band The Bats within the early 1980s, & in 1987 he moved to Boston, where he played solo gigs, formed a short-transient band Globe's Fair & became the member of the go touring version of Aimee Mann's new wave band 'Til Tuesday. Within 1994, joined Dan McCarroll, Buddy Judge and Jellyfish guitarist Jason Falkner in the short-lived popular supergroup The Grays.
Brion was signed to the Lava/Atlantic label in 1997, but was freed from either his contract fallowing turning around his solo debut album Meaningless; the album was freed independently inside 2001.
He has played various instruments in many albums, & precipitously into productiin on so-girlfriend Mann's 1993 solo debut, Whatever; he has also produced albums by Fiona Apple, Rufus Wainwright, Eleni Mandell, Rhett Miller and Evan Dando. He occurs as film composer, garnering Best Score Soundtrack Album Grammy nominations for his work in 1999's Magnolia and 2004's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Brion is famed for his regular Friday-nighttime gigs at a Los Angeles club Largo, which feature covers & original songs, a kind of instruments and the occasional guest. He dated comedic actress Mary Lynn Rajskub for five years until it broke higher in the spring of 2002.
Shortly fallowing he begun producing a album Extraordinary Machine with Fiona Apple, but she late brought around producers Mike Elizondo and Brian Kehew (a friend of Brion's) to complete a album.
